Hot Off the PATH

Televerde Foundation graduates at the July 2025 Arizona ceremony, celebrating over 1,000 women graduates.

A Thousand Strong—and Growing!

This summer, Televerde Foundation hit a milestone we’ve been working toward since day one: more than 1,000 women have now graduated from our PATHS programs. That’s 1,000 unique stories of grit and reinvention. It’s also 1,000 new voices in the workforce, in families, and in communities where possibility once felt out of reach.

But milestones aren’t finish lines. They’re starting points. Each graduate reminds us that the work ahead is bigger than the numbers—it’s about who they’ll become, what they’ll build, and the generations they’ll influence.

The Indiana Effect

This fall, the UMass Donahue Institute released an independent report that puts hard numbers behind the impact of Televerde Foundation’s work, and the results are extraordinary.

  • Women in our PATHS program are:
87.5% less likely to return to prison than the state average.
  • Earning more than double the median income of the formerly incarcerated.
  • Fueling $66 million in annual economic activity, $4.1 million in public savings, and $7.2 million in new tax revenue.

We think you’ll agree, these numbers are proof that second chances lift women, strengthen families, and grow entire economies.

And it’s made possible because of strong partnerships with the Indiana Department of Correction, U.S. Department of Labor, Televerde, Aventiv Technologies, McGraw-Hill, and all our partners and champions around the globe. Thank you!

Our New House: The First
Step Home

For women leaving prison, housing is often the hardest door to open. A safe place to sleep—something most of us take for granted—can be impossible to find at the very moment stability matters most. Without it, even the strongest reentry plans can quickly fall apart. That’s why this is so huge. Thanks to the partnership of Lowe’s Companies, Inc., and The Worker, we’ve opened a newly renovated transition house—a safe first step for women returning home! We’ve been honored to partner with them for over a year, and the impact speaks for itself: 41 women have successfully completed the program and secured independent living within 6 months of their release and 12 more are currently saving for their very own place. You can help make this house a home. Shop our Amazon Wish List →

Her Second Chapter

When a woman steps out of prison with a certification in hand, a job waiting, and the determination to start over, that’s a victory worth celebrating. But the real story isn’t the offer letter. It’s the years of obstacles she’s pushed through to get there, and the life she’s now building with her second chance. That’s the heart behind our new series, Life After Prison: Power of a Second Chance—real stories of struggle, strength, and starting over. Here are just a few of the women bringing that truth to life: At Aventiv Technologies, Tabetha Smith turned her Cisco and Google certifications into a cybersecurity career, and Kaitlin Horton now leads fair chance hiring, opening doors for others. Meanwhile, at McGraw Hill, Heather Miller is standing on her own two feet–supporting her daughter and paying for her home—while Kasandra Friend is writing her next chapter with the publishing giant! Turns out, second chances really do look fabulous on everyone. Meet the women behind the accomplishments →

Moments That Moved Us

Confidence in Every Pack

Some gifts aren’t wrapped in paper or bows. Instead, they arrive in backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils, and the kind of confidence that can carry a child through the first day of school and beyond.

Once again, our Televerde Foundation community came together for our annual Backpack Drive, getting packs on the backs of more than 250 children of incarcerated moms and sending them into classrooms to start the school year strong.

Each backpack carried a message: ”You are not forgotten. You are loved. You are ready to thrive.“ From mothers writing tearful thank-you notes to children proudly showing off their new bags, the impact was felt in ways no checklist of school supplies could capture. Read the full article

Data Science Meets Second Chances

Ever wonder if second chances can be proven? They can—and we’re doing it. We’ve teamed up with the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame to study the impact of our Career PATHS programs.

Using a randomized controlled trial—the gold standard of research—LEO is tracking recidivism, employment, and long-term mobility for women in Arizona and Indiana. The results will take time, but the outcome is big: hard data that shows second chances work. More to come!

Every certification earned. Every job secured. Every life transformed — it all starts with you.  Your belief in second chances fuels this movement and creates real, lasting change.

Together, we’re not just giving second chances. We’re building better futures.
