Televerde Foundation Featured on FOX59 for Reducing Recidivism in Indiana

Televerde Foundation was recently featured on FOX59 for its work transforming outcomes for justice-impacted women across Indiana, with results that are both measurable and deeply human.

The FOX59 story highlights Televerde Foundation’s workforce development programs operating inside women’s correctional facilities in Indianapolis, Rockville and Madison, which focus on emotional intelligence, critical thinking, professional values and career readiness. Since launching in Indiana in 2023, more than 320 women have graduated from these programs.

According to a new report by the UMass Donahue Institute’s Economic & Public Policy Research Group, Televerde Foundation’s programs have reduced recidivism by 87.5% compared to the state average of 24%. The report also found that program graduates contribute $66 million in annual economic activity and $7.2 million in new tax revenue, demonstrating the broader economic impact of successful reentry.

The FOX59 feature also centers on the lived experience of graduates like Katie Lamb, who credits the program with helping her break cycles of trauma, rebuild confidence and create stability for herself and her children. Her story illustrates what data alone cannot capture: the power of opportunity, belief and second chances.

CEO Michelle Cirocco said that while the data is important, the greatest impact comes from seeing women reunite with their families, reclaim their futures and thrive beyond incarceration.

We couldn’t do this without our incredible partners — Indiana Department of Correction, State of Indiana, U.S. Department of Labor, Eli Lilly and Company, Central Indiana Community Foundation, HOOVER FAMILY FOUNDATION, Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, Ivy Tech Community College, McGraw Hill, Aventiv Technologies, Lumina Foundation, Old National Bank, and REFORM Alliance. Their commitment and collaboration make this work possible and expand the opportunities available to women across the state.
